Lynn Slade
Jill of All Mediums.
I started my artistic journey 5 years ago using coloured pencils to create photorealistic drawings, mainly of pets. I then took on some acrylic and oil work and enjoyed that. I moved to watercolours and tried all sorts of techniques to end up using gel plate prints, with watercolour, acrylic and found objects to create different and unique masterpieces.
I live in Tarneit and my dining room and office are my studio. I get good light in the dining room and use that mainly. I don’t clear up during paintings and hope visitors accept my eclectic and chaotic living arrangements.
I have entered many pictures into a variety of exhibitions. My first milestone was winning first prize at the Keyneton Agricultural Society Annual Show in 2022 in the Historic District category, for an acrylic painting of hanging rock, it was my first landscape. Another piece of work, of a photorealistic dog, won 2nd prize in that category.
I was also very pleased last year to sell a painting exhibited on the entry wall of the Louis Joel Art Gallery within a week. When it was replaced, the replacement sold quickly as well.
After retiring in 2019 after 55 years working in the commercial and services sectors I retired. I’ve then spent my time learning everything I can about all types of mediums and playing, playing, playing with them all to create something unique and develop a ‘style’ …but this seems to be ever changing.
I love it and spend a large part of my week ‘doing art’. I’m also involved in some volunteer work and still work in risk management for some long-term clients.
Being free to do what I want, when I want is a real luxury and pleasure after so many years of sticking to deadlines and timetables.
