Robert Glover
Artist
I am an artist specialising in pen and ink illustrations enhanced with watercolour. My work attempts to capture the character and detail of architectural forms, through intricate linework and expressive colour.
My involvement with HBAS has only recently begun, thanks mainly to the enthusiastic encouragement of Mary Kennedy – to whom I am deeply indebted for her interest in my artwork. As a retiree, I am grateful for the social and community connections offered by groups such as HBAS and U3A.
When COVID hit in 2020, and travel came to a halt, I found inspiration and reference in the many photos taken over the years in Italy, France, New Zealand and Australia. I turned to watercolours with some gentle persuasion from my daughter, who is a professional landscape artist in Adelaide. She now says I can now call myself a “watercolourist”!
Involvement has been sought with relevant art organisations such as Victorian Artists Society, Linden Art Gallery, Louis Joel Gallery and of course U3A and HBAS. The opportunity to visit galleries and participate in exhibitions has expanded my knowledge and enthusiasm for creating art. My current goal is to maintain a daily practice of sketching and painting, coupled with some plein-air sessions suggested by Mary Kennedy and Regina Goetz.
I have been promoting my artwork on Instagram and Facebook since 2020, and recently joined with Bluethumb…..each using my link @robertovistas
