With HBAS tutor Rehann Vazid, we’ll follow the journey of landscape as it transformed from the dramatic atmospheres of J.M.W. Turner to the light-filled brushstrokes of Claude Monet, exploring how artists across the 19th century shifted the way we see nature, not just as scenery, but as emotion, atmosphere and lived experience here in Australia.
This evening will connect Rehann’s demonstration with these great traditions, showing how their spirit can still inspire watercolor painting today. With the Impressionist exhibition recentlyt at NGV, this is a timely chance to look more closely at how landscape painters captured fleeting light and mood and to see these ideas brought to life in watercolor on the spot.
