Events
Hobsons Bay Arts Society (HBAS) organises and hosts a number of different events at Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre in Altona, Newport Community and Education Centre, Wood Street Arts Space in Laverton, and on location during Plein Air sessions.
Activity nights are free for all members and occur on the 4th Monday of each month. They are hosted by skilled artists and range from guided and interactive demonstrations to presentations outlining the history or social impact of the artform. There is no need to pre-register; come down to the Louis Joel Community Center and join in the fun.
Tutored Art Groups offer a series of guided lessons and come in a variety of styles unique to each of our amazing tutors. They follow a specific curriculum and run on a weekly basis over each school term.
Untutored Art Groups create a supportive and friendly atmosphere. Here you can work on your own artistic projects while in the company of other like-minded dabblers.
Weekend Workshops are one off sessions hosted by highly skilled artists to demonstrate a specific skill or medium. They are generally held at Woods Street Arts Space in Laverton and run from 10-4pm on a Saturday or Sunday. A fee is charged to cover some of the costs and pre-registrations are essential.
Members are invited to submit their art to a number of Exhibitions that occur throughout the year.
